The nun monastic complex of Vπratec is dedicated to the ôAssumption of the Virgin.ö The present-day construction in stone and brick that is surrounded by walls and has the aspect of a fortress replaced the original wooden construction in 1785.
The monastery museum houses numerous art objects, especially highly valuable carpets and tapestries that date back to the 19th century. Some of these were donated by Princess Safta BrΓncoveanu, daughter of Prince Teodor Bal║ (1856-1857). Her bust was sculpted by Ion Jalea (1887-1984) and can be admired in the museum.
